Gift Giving Ideas for the ENTIRE Family

Posted December 13, 2018 by Prairie Wife -

Finding just the right gift for everyone in our family can be a bit tricky!

This year I was prepared for the problem of buying gifts…for the always hard to shop for Cowboy, and two Cowkids in the dreaded “tween” stage as well as a three-year-old girl who wants “a little baby from the grocery store.” And yes, she does mean a REAL baby…

Below are a few ideas that may help ease your holiday stress, and PLEASE, if you have any ideas of your own leave them in the comments.

fisher price nativity

9 months – 5 years

Hands down this Fisher Price Nativity set is one of our family favorites. We’ve had the same set for 10 years and there is no sign of it losing its appeal anytime soon. We only get it out at Christmas time, and even the older Cowkids can’t resist playing with it. It has stood the test of time and is a great way to bring the Christmas story to life for your children (or grandchildren). Note: If you accidentally lose the baby Jesus you can buy a replacement Holy Family on Amazon.

mine for fossils

5-8 years

You should be able to find these kits at any local store, and it’s a gift that is perfect for both boys and girls. My kids have loved the T-Rex tooth kit and this kit with a variety of fossils will be a big hit! Yes, they are a bit messy…so have children use a big cookie sheet or Tupperware container when they dig out their fossils. It’ll make the cleanup WAY easier.

instax

Tweens and Teens

The Instax cameras are SO fun! It’s a modern-day version of a Polaroid camera. Not only does it instantly make fun pictures your kids can hand out to their friends, but it also has a mirror on the front so they can use it for selfies. There are a ton of accessories available (lenses, frames, decorative papers, and carrying cases) so you can really make this into a gift that keeps giving!

The Google Home Mini is just right for the tween/teen in your home that’s into tech and music. They can have awesome sound and the coolest tunes all available to them with a simple voice command. If your child has a Google home mini in their room they can use it to ask for help with homework, learn the weather (so they can dress appropriately), create reminders, set alarms and even make phone calls…all with the power of their voice!

Husbands

This is a tricky group to shop for…

Outdoorsy guys will get a kick out of a membership to their local shooting range. The Cowboy has really enjoyed our local range and taking the older kids with him has become a special way for them to spend time together.

Techy husbands will love the new Google Home Hub…I’m not even super into tech and I LOVE ours. It’s the grown-up version of the Google Home Mini. It plays music and does pretty much anything you could ever want. It tells you the weather, keeps track of your calendar and appointments with reminders, makes phone calls, lets you watch YouTube videos, and creates a shopping list…all through voice commands or using the touchscreen. If you have other tech throughout your home, like the NEST security system, you can sync it and control it ALL with your voice from the Google Home Hub! You can head to your local Verizon store if you want to check it out in person.

Wives

This is another hard category because not all women are created equal 😉

Custom items from Emersyn and June are heartfelt and chic items for that special woman in your life. Keychains, necklaces, ornaments, earrings, and bracelets…there are dozens of ways to create a one of a kind gift that shows her you care.

The gift of guilt-free spending is always a win for me. And as long as The Cowboy has picked out one actual gift to show he put SOME thought into Christmas (hey I’m just being honest here) I LOVE gift cards. Who would turn down the gift of great skin or a chance to get some new clothes? I always find the time to make use of a good gift card 😉

I love receiving personalized ladies’ handkerchiefs too! They’re lovely AND functional. I absolutely adore customized embroidery for that personal touch.

tile pro

Hard to Shop For Friends/Relatives

The Tile Pro is perfect for the relative that is always misplacing their keys or phone….so pretty much everyone on your list! They can use it to find their phone, it makes it ring even when on silent! They can hook it onto their key ring to find lost keys using the app on their phone, and it even sends a reminder if you are about to leave them behind. Or they can stick the Tile in their purse to always keep track of it!

The Cowboy and I loved our Chef and the Dish cooking class! A gift certificate to use towards one of their cooking classes is the perfect gift for that special couple on your list. If they have children, an offer to babysit so they can have a few hours to themselves (or an evening) will make it even more special!

These wood watches from Jord would make a lovely gift for anyone on your list. You can even make it extra sentimental with an engraving on the back.

You can find more great gift ideas (and see some of the items above) in this video clip from a recent appearance on K2 Good Morning Wyoming Show!

NOTE: The sweater and earrings came from Simply Creative a lovely boutique in Wheatland, Wyoming. You can follow this link to shop and use the code “prairiewife” when you check out to receive 20% off your total 😉
