“Love” A New Board Book By Casey Rislov

Below is what Casey had to say about her writing process for the book “Love” as well as a look at the beautiful text and illustrations.

This book started late last spring when COVID had everyone hunkered down for quite a while. The times were shocking, tough, and there was a lost sense of security.

One of the good things to come out of these trying times was the time to slow down and be with your direct family (if you could).

I found that leaning in to love really does help.

Whether it is reading about stories, hugging your family, or doing nice things for others that cannot be near you.

On my Twitter page (@caseyrislov), I am connected to many other book lovers, illustrators, and people who post positive vibes.

In November of 2019, I started posting different verses of the Bible that would fit with my books. It was a comforting and positive way to connect with others.

The response has been great, others love to share my posts with these quotes tied to my books.

So my editor, Aimee Jackson from Book Bridge Press, saw this- and she thought why not put one of the greatest loved verses from the Bible with pictures from Love is Forever?

So we worked on this with her team all spring and early summer.

The illustrations help tell the story of what the verses look like.

The verses are simple but lovely.

For example “Love comforts” has the two young owls cuddled in bed reading a story while the parents stand close by watching.

“Love Protects” the young owls are flying a kite together. The older sibling is helping the younger one. She also helps him get ready for the day in a sweet picture beside it.

This book, as with all of my books, was created thanks to a wonderful team.

It is amazing what one idea leads to.
