I Hate Flies

If you’re looking for a deep or extremely helpful post today I am going to tell you this is not it. Try this one about making hard choices or perhaps this Prairie Wife of the Week…If you’re in the mood to read a good rant stay with me.

I hate flies. I absolutely hate them. The best torture for me would be to put me in small room with flies buzzing around me. I guarantee I would break and tell you where the treasure is hidden in 15 minutes. Right now my house is plagued by flies. I have fly strips hanging in strategic positions all through the house…laden with dead bodies (super gross I know) and still…I have been dive bombed by at least six flies in the last five minutes.

I understand that most of this plague is due to the Cowkids constant in and out movement from the house to the Prairie and back thirty billion times a day, but seriously it’s driving me nuts. I try and have a conversation with a friend and instead find myself twitching like I’m being electrocuted trying to get the flies off of my arms and legs and head and feet and face…And while I know that my house cleaning has deteriorated a little bit since becoming pregnant with CowBaby5 it’s not bad enough to draw flies in this amount. Everyone I talk to agrees that the flies have been particularly bad this year, and I hope they aren’t just saying it to humor me.

The first thought I had when I woke up last week and saw two inches of snow on the ground was “Thank God the flies will all be dead!” But nope, somehow these flies lived through 20 degree weather and snow to come back and buzz another day. Last night I was just about asleep and one particularly fat and loud fly decided to work it’s way back to our bedroom and spent the next 15 minutes dive bombing me. By the time it finally flew away I was so full of adrenaline and rage that I couldn’t settle down and get back to sleep for another hour.

I get that I may be a little hormonal (OK perhaps a lot) but these flies are driving me nuts. Anyone that has advice on what to do…please leave it in the comments!
