Celebrating 30 Years of Friendship In Paris
Posted May 29, 2025 by Prairie Wife -
As you read this post, I am currently on an airplane, and my two best friends from High School and I are celebrating 30 years of friendship in Paris!
We’ve been planning this trip for years, and honestly, I can’t believe it’s really happening.
Zari, Ilona, and I have been meeting for annual girls’ trips for years. When all the Cowkids were little, we only saw each other when I went home to Milwaukee to visit my family. But as the Cowkids got older and traveling meant missing school and sports activities, making twice-yearly trips home became nearly impossible. So, we began to plan annual vacations.
The first few vacations involved staying at a nice hotel or Airbnb, lounging in the sun, soaking in the rays, and catching up on a year’s worth of stories. We’d pick a local restaurant or club to visit, schedule a spa day, stop by any major tourist spots, and make time to shop and help the local economy.
As time passed, we began to pick places that didn’t have palm trees but were on our bucket lists. We had a memorable trip in Nashville, and most recently we went to Boston last Fall!
The girls even joined me on my trip to London the year I turned 40. I’m so glad they were able to be there. Celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee together was absolutely amazing!
After we went to London together, we decided that we needed to do something extra special to celebrate 30 years of friendship! While I’ve been to Nice, France twice (once with The Cowboy and once alone), I’ve never been to Paris. Zari lived there in college for several months, and Ilona had been there before, but both of them agreed that a trip there together was the stuff of our dreams.
So we found a time that worked for all three of us, and made a list of must-sees and must-dos and booked our trip.
With all the times we’ve traveled together, we know how to balance jam-packed days checking out all the tourist spots and relaxing days simply soaking in the atmosphere of wherever we happen to be. Per usual, we’ll be staying in an Airbnb so that we can truly enjoy all those Paris vibes. Shopping and museums are something we all love, and it’s safe to say we’ve never passed up a chance to indulge in a fabulous meal.
Our trip to France is filled with all of the above, and then some…and we will have more than a few “Is this really my life?” moments. Of course, I’ll be posting our adventures on Social Media, and hopefully, those of you who have been to Paris before take some time to share your favorite spots in the comments below.
Below is a list of a few things that we plan to do while we’re in France. It’s not the entire list, because I want to leave a few surprises for those of you who enjoy following along.
- Louvre
- Musee D’Orsay
- Palais Garnier
- Mass at Notre Dame
- Versailles
- Eiffel Tower and Montmartre
- Dinner at Chez Janou
- A few days relaxing in Nice, France
After spending this amazing time with the girls and making memories of a lifetime, I’ll fly to another European country to meet up with The Cowboy!
Last year was our 20th anniversary, but due to concerns for the safety of our family, we skipped the trip that we had planned. Now that things have settled down, we’ll take our trip this year for our 21st anniversary instead. I am so excited to have this time together, just the two of us, exploring somewhere neither of us has been to before.
I’ll also be posting bits of that trip on social media, and I can’t wait to hear what you think of our chosen destination.
Both of these trips have taken years of planning, but I know that the wait will be worth it!
I am so excited for all the planned adventures ahead, and the unplanned adventures that are sure to happen on a trip like this.
Send us all the good traveling vibes, and know that while the time differences and busy schedule may delay my responses, I’ll be checking in with all of you.
XOXOX
