The Christmas Invitation by Trisha Ashley

We have officially had our third snowstorm of the Fall/Winter season.

And, yesterday a few large fluffy snowflakes floated down from the sky in the early morning hours.

Based on that information it’s no wonder that I feel like it is 100% appropriate to share with you a book about Christmas.

After all, it has been a winter wonderland here in Wyoming for several weeks now!

Trisha Ashley is one of my favorite authors and her book “A Winter’s Tale” continues to be a book I genuinely love to revisit over and over.

Trisha Ashley’s newest novel “The Christmas Invitation” will please both her fans and new readers.

It’s a darling love story with just a bit of an edge. The main characters are well developed and relatable and have just enough quirks and grit to keep them interesting. Trisha Ashley’s devout fans will recognize several characters and towns from her past novels, and will not be disappointed with the addition of several new eccentric characters.

I know the above description is a bit vague, so I’ll try to delicately give you some more details without giving away too much.

Meg (our heroine) is a portrait painter that has been raised nontraditionally by a surrogate family. A portrait commission is offered to her by a famous Professor and Author. Meg is reluctant at first, but the appeal of both money and a chance to celebrate a true Christmas in the English countryside is too much to resist.

She packs up her belongings and sets out to spend two weeks in the rambling manor. She quickly falls in love with the quirky group, especially the sweet young boy Teddy. Meg runs into a not so welcome bit of her past (the handsome and brooding Lex) and what results is a constant push and pull of emotions.

While this novel is definitely a love story, a dash of mystery and attempted murder suddenly turns a charming cozy novel into a who done it page-turner.

In true Trisha Ashley form, all’s well that ends well, but along the way to the happily ever after there are enough twists and turns to keep you thoroughly entertained.

Sounds like a cute holiday read. You can have the snow and keep it up for you I’m not ready for it yet here on the East Coast.
