What I’m Wearing: Spring 2024

Posted May 16, 2024 by Prairie Wife -

While I love clothes, fashion, and following trends, I am not a “fashionista.” I couldn’t care less about brand names or labels. If I like how something looks on me, I will buy it and wear it. What I’m wearing in Spring 2024 is mostly about comfort, and with Wyoming’s changing weather, you can expect a few layering pieces!

I know many people expect bold colors and patterns for Spring, but I’ve been leaning more toward classic pieces and neutral colors. To add pops of color to my looks, I’ve been wearing bold-colored jewelry, bright tanks, or bras that peek through.

Denim Shirt Dress

I will always be a fan of shirt dresses, and I particularly like the longer styles that are popular now. This is a dress you will find me wearing often this Spring. I’ve personally declared this the “Spring of the dress” and plan to throw on all my casual dresses with a pair of sandals to run errands or have coffee with friends. When we went to Italy last Summer, I wore dresses almost every day, and they were cool and comfortable and made me feel chic. So, I decided to continue that this Spring and Summer, too. This long-style dress has pockets (wahoo), a tiered skirt, and an empire waist that will flatter any figure. You can dress it up by unbuttoning a few buttons, adding a bright, bold necklace, and wearing it with chunky platform heels! This link will take you to the exact dress pictured above, and when you checkout, use PRAIRIEWIFE15 for 15% off.

You can see me wearing the dress above in this video about graduation outfits.

Padded Bra Tops

I fell in love with padded bra tops after I had my first mastectomy surgery. I had misshapen, uneven breasts, and I wanted to camouflage them while still staying comfortable. I’m not talking about shelf tanks (where you only have one extra bit of layered fabric) I’m talking about tops that have actual padding AND offer you a bit of shaping and support, too. You can wear these tanks alone or use them to layer under a blazer or loose-knit sweater. I have some in neutral colors, but I also like to wear them in bold pink or blue to add pops of color to my looks!

Off the Shoulder Sweaters

I LOVE a baggy sweater paired with jean shorts for spring. To me, this off-the-shoulder look makes it just a bit more trendy and fun! I have this exact sweater from Amazon in cream, olive green, and light pink, and I wear them all the time. Not just around the house with my sweatpants or jumping in the car and transporting a Cowkid to or from practice but…with leggings to run errands or with wide-leg jeans and a chunky heel for dinner out. Layer a lacy bra or a sports bra underneath. Or, if that’s not your style, you can wear it with one of the padded tank tops above.

Fashion Sneakers

Fashion sneakers are still incredibly popular, and it’s easy to see why! They are functional, can be paired with anything (even dresses and skirts), and can be found in thousands of colors and styles. When it comes to fashion sneakers, there is absolutely something for everyone! I bought my first pair 2 years ago when I flew to Europe and spent three weeks traveling across England and France. I still have that pair of shoes (and wear them often), so I can confidently say that it’s worth investing in a set of fashion sneakers that are durable, comfortable, and have good arch support. I personally like Adidas sneakers the best, so I encourage you to start your search on their site.

Bright and Bold Earrings

Nothing says “Spring is HERE!” like a pair of bright, bold earrings! As I mentioned above, I’ve been tending to wear more neutral colorings in my clothing, but I still like to add a pop of color to my outfits with my accessories. I love the earrings above (and everything that Wyoming-based Made By a Unicorn sells) because of the eye-catching colors and unique design. I also like to add a statement ring from Pure Impressions Design (use PRAIRIEWIFE15 for 15% off) to finish off my look. It keeps me feeling fancy and fun without looking too eccentric.

Lightweight Blazer

I often wear blazers for work and as an extra layer of warmth and style with my everyday looks. This lightweight blazer looks fantastic as part of a pantsuit but will also go with just about anything else in your closet. The color is perfect for Spring, while the slightly oversized and boxy look is VERY on trend right now. You will 100% see me wearing this with jeans and a graphic T-shirt. Another fun look is this blazer with a neutral-colored tank top, trouser-style shorts, and heels!
