The Husbands by Holly Gramazio

The last few books we’ve read for book club have been intense, so we thought it would be good to pick something a bit lighter for this month!

Here’s what the publisher had to say about “The Husbands”:

When Lauren returns home to her flat in London late one night, she is greeted at the door by her husband, Michael. There’s only one problem—she’s not married. She’s never seen this man before in her life. But according to her friends, her much-improved decor, and the photos on her phone, they’ve been together for years.

As Lauren tries to puzzle out how she could be married to someone she can’t remember meeting, Michael goes to the attic to change a lightbulb and abruptly disappears. In his place, a new man emerges, and a new, slightly altered life re-forms around her. Realizing that her attic is creating an infinite supply of husbands, Lauren confronts the question: If swapping lives is as easy as changing a lightbulb, how do you know you’ve taken the right path? When do you stop trying to do better and start actually living?

PREP QUESTIONS FOR OUR VIRTUAL BOOK CLUB MEETING

Just when it seems like there are no unique plots, this one seems to have promise.

  2. Michelle says:

I really like memory loss books. They are kind of trippy. This reminds me of Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella

    1. Prairie Wife says:

I love those types of books too! You should also look at “Sometimes I Lie” by Alice Feeney I bet you’d like it.

  3. Audrey Stewart says:

I’m an avid reader and I haven’t read this book. Holly Gramazio is a new author to me.

  4. Raedel L Kellogg says:

Life has been very intense and I am looking to read something not so intense. This book doesn’t look like any book I have read in the past and I have read thousands.
