An Up Close Look: Dermaplaning and Microdermabrasion

I love sharing tips and tricks with my readers.

I’m also more than willing to try new trends out, and then report back to you on the who, what, where, why and how’s.

patient and doctorMy bestie TallGirlJ is actually WAAAAAY more in tune to beauty trends then I am, she told me about Dermaplaning several months ago.

Like any modern-day woman I googled it…and saw that it’s basically shaving your face with a scalpel.

Ummm what?

Turns out that it gently removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz from your face, and the result is supposed to be amazing!

Getting rid of that top layer of yuck results in smoother skin, an evener skin tone, and an overall youthful appearance. It even helps your makeup to look more natural!

OK, that does sound good.

I announced two weeks ago on our weekly live Facebook, that PrairieWifeInHeels.com had partnered with Stirling Skin Care Clinic.

The result is, a place where I can go try the latest and greatest in medical skin care and then write honest reviews, and offer discounts, and giveaways for YOU!

Last week I went in and tried Dermaplaning, and followed it up with microdermabrasion and a papaya mask. I kept asking over and over…am I going to look scary after this?

I have super sensitive skin (including rosacea) and I had an event to go to just 2 hours after my appointment. The staff assured me that I would look fine, and not only fine but glowing after they were done with me…so I took a deep breath and lay down on the table.

dermaplaning yuckYou can see by the video that not only was the Dermaplaning painless, but it removed a ton of yucky junk from my face. And yes, they did wash it first! The microdermabrasion was done with baking soda and took the smoothness of my skin to a whole new level of amazing. Just 20 minutes after I walked in the door I was done…but they wouldn’t let me leave without some fun in the beauty room.

Rachael did an amazing job on my makeup, and I had a blast getting the celebrity treatment 😉 Really they do this for everyone that walks in their door, but a blogger can pretend, right?

dermaplaning selfieYou can see by this picture (taken more than 6 hours after my makeup was done and with no editing) that everything stayed in place and my skin still looks flawless.

One week later it still feels smoother than before, my products seem to be more effective, there is less redness to my skin, and I didn’t break out as a result of the procedure. This was a real concern for me…and yes I do still have that darn hormonal acne, but the staff at Stirling Skin Care Clinic assure me that there are some things they can do to help.

Fingers crossed, and I’ll keep you posted!

Let’s talk cost because, let’s be honest, that matters!

At Stirling Skin Care Clinic the prices are:

Dermaplaning $20

Microdermabrasion $85

Totally reasonable right?!

What do you think? Would you try Dermaplaning?
