The Cowboy’s Peach Jam

Posted August 25, 2020 by Prairie Wife -

The Cowboy loves peaches, and every year he makes Peach Jam for us.

I posted his super simple way of peeling peaches on Instagram and asked you to let me know if you wanted his recipe.

You answered with multiple YES replies in the comments, so here you go!

The Cowboy’s Peach Jam
Cook Time: For all of the steps you can plan on 2 hours or so per batch.
Serves: Makes Approx 9 Pints of Peach Jam

Ingredients

16 ripe peaches
2 packets of powdered Pectin (12 tbsp)
4tbsp Lemon Juice
6 cups of Sugar
1/2 tsp Cinnamon

  1. Cut up 16 Peaches and put them in a large pot on the stove.
  2. Add Pectin and Lemon Juice.
  3. Turn heat to high, and mash by hand or with an electric handheld mixer. The Cowboy likes to leave larger chunks so don’t worry about making it perfectly smooth.
  4. Stir with a whisk until it comes to a rolling boil.
  5. Add sugar and Cinnamon and stir until combined.
  6. Reduce heat and let simmer 2 minutes (stirring constantly).
  7. Carefully pour the mixture into canning jars and seal according to your preferred method.

This is a jam rather than a jelly because it is a bit chunkier and thicker.

It is fabulous on toast or English Muffins or get wild and put it on pancakes or french toast.
