Fashion Bucket List Part Two

I know we Prairie Wives are a busy bunch, but if you weren’t able to read Part One of this fashion tale, try to take five minutes. If you can’t spare the time, we left my story with my hand hovering over the checkout icon on Haute Look, trying to decide if I should buy a vintage Hermes bracelet at a wonderful price and end 30 years of label lust or pass. I ended the post saying, “So, what do you think I did? What would you have done? And what’s on your fashion bucket list?”

Well, the reserve clock kept ticking down as I kept looking at the picture and reviewing the description. The quality looked great and it even came with the classic orange box. But wait, I am super, skinny from my fingers to my elbow and always have to take out every link in watches. Would the leather wrap bracelet work on my little “chicken wrist” (a term created by Prairie Wife)? OMG, and there are only 5 minutes left before someone else can get it!!! I literally ran to the drawer, pulled out a tape measure, and started trying to figure out if the bracelet wouldn’t fall off every time I moved my hand. Then I thought, “Oh, what the heck, if it doesn’t work I’m sure a blog reader will help me out of my predicament.” So I ran back to the computer–with 1 min, 22 sec to spare I might add–typed in my credit card info, and hit the button.

Hermes BoxSo then I had to wait several weeks for the package to arrive. During that entire time I would check the front porch eagerly after work, and then think about whether I really made the right decision after all. When the Haute Look box did show up, I grabbed the camera because I wanted to document the process for you. I must say, there really is a difference in high-end packaging. This box was old but had really worn well (I hope people say the same thing about me!). I can honestly say that this is the first time I have ever been in the same room with an Hermes box or item, and the orange really is beautiful and looks elegant displayed on my dresser. Now, for the moment of truth. Did the bracelet look good? Would it fit? Would I really, really like it? Yes, yes and yes! The bracelet is understated so I can wear it daily with nearly every look in my wardrobe. The colors are neutral, yet the woven leather and workmanship is exquisite and looks like it was barely worn. I think this type of fashion joy was worth the wait, and there was a sense of empowerment that I am at the stage in my life where I could finally make this type of purchase on my own. I hope that someday soon you are joined with an item on your fashion bucket list, and you know we’d love to hear all about it!   Hermes bracelet
