Recap: A Weekend With Prairie Wife 2025
Posted July 27, 2025 by Prairie Wife -

I’ve spent the last few days trying to think of how to share a recap of A Weekend with Prairie Wife 2025 with you.
I’m usually fairly good at putting things into words, after all…I have been blogging for almost 11 years!
But, there is something about this weekend that seems to be almost impossible to put into words.
Yet here I am, trying anyway!
In January, the staff at The Historic Elk Mountain Hotel reached out to me and asked if I would be willing to host a retreat at their hotel.

Obviously, I said YES because it was a dream come true for me to have a Prairie Wife Retreat!
The ladies told me to come up with some ideas, a timeline, and anything else I thought was essential to include in this experience.
We chatted back and forth for a bit and came up with what would become the first ever “Weekend With Prairie Wife”!
What were some of those things I thought were essential to include in A Weekend With Prairie Wife?

Time outside hiking and enjoying all the things I love about Wyoming.
Hours of unscheduled free time.
No early mornings…for me, that means nothing before 8:00!
A photographer to document the weekend.
A workshop to help encourage attendees to grow and learn.
Good food…that we don’t have to cook!

The option to opt out of any activities.
We announced our Weekend With Prairie Wife on my birthday, and I was honestly terrified that the only people who would be excited about it would be a few close friends. I was pleasantly surprised by the immediate interest in the event.
The 18 women who attended the retreat came with open hearts, ready to connect and challenge themselves to step out of their comfort zones.

For some of the women, simply making time for something that was purely for themselves was a huge step.
For others, the physical aspect of the retreat was the biggest challenge. The 3-mile hike and the yoga and meditation were where they felt the most uncomfortable.
The workshop topic was provided in advance, and many of the women felt that this part of the weekend would be where they would see the most growth.
Because one of the rules of A Weekend With Prairie Wife is “What happens at A Weekend With Prairie Wife stays at The Historic Elk Mountain Hotel,” I’m not going to share specific details about the weekend with you.

I think it’s safe to say that by the end of the weekend, the 18 women in attendance left with hearts full of strength, gratitude, and wisdom.
Here’s what some of the attendees had to say…
“I’m so grateful for this weekend…for the grace, the insight and the power of such incredible women! Oh yes…and definitely grateful for ALL the laughs!! I now carry the beauty of all of you with me.
THANK YOU
” M.H.

“What a wonderful time at the #historicelkmountainhotel with an amazing group of awesome women doing what we do best: bonding in nature.. I can’t wait to do this again next year! Thank you PrairieWifeInHeels.com ” L.S.
“Thank you all for this amazing weekend! I only took a few photos but the memories are numerous! #historicelkmountainhotel” H.F.

“Hello everyone! I wanted to say thank you for the wonderfully lovely experience. It warms my soul to see so many women working to take care of themselves. I look forward to sharing space with you all at the next retreat! Stay golden ladies.” C.M.

“This weekend was such a gift. I am thankful to each and every one of you for giving me your time and energy this weekend. I will never again have my first ever retreat, and what a blessing to have this moment and those memories with all of you. Xoxox” Prairie Wife
Based on recommendations from this year’s attendees, we have a few additions to next year’s retreat. Including the option to participate in an 11-mile hike, where those who want to can fish along the way! We will also be adding a movie night, where attendees will have the chance to vote on the movie we will watch.
I’ll be saving the rest of the details about next year’s Weekend With Prairie Wife for March 28, 2026, when tickets go on sale.
In the meantime, you can save the date of Sept 11-13, 2026.
Please remember that this retreat is limited to 25 people!

I’m looking forward to spending the next few months planning all the details that will go into next year’s A Weekend With Prairie Wife!
If you have any questions or concerns, please leave them in the comments!
