*This timeline was created by Cathy Holman using the evidence she began collecting in November 2023. 

Nov 15, 2023: Texts made to look like they were from Gillian Holman (victim) are sent to Preston Sorensen (victim) and another student (W.M.). The texts contain disparaging remarks about multiple students at school, including Preston.

Nov 19, 2023: Marcie Smith (stalker) initiates a call between her daughter (K.S) and Gillian “to see if we can figure this out with them so we can hopefully lead them in a positive direction.”

Nov 20, 2023: Cathy Holman (Gillian’s Mother) sends email to admin at GHS to let them know about the situation.

Nov 21, 2023: Brandi Sorensen (Preston’s Mother) and Cathy Holman report texts impersonating Gillian to the Glenrock Police Department. Officer Rachel Brurud Responds.

Feb 7, 2024: Marcie Smith sends a text via an anonymous number to Cathy Holman and Dan Holman from a “concerned parent” saying that her son’s phone notified her of an inappropriate conversation where Gillian was saying she had oral sex with boys at school and that Preston had said the only reason he wanted to date Gillian was to “take her V card”.

Feb 9, 2024: Dan and Cathy report texts to the GPD.

Feb 12, 2024: A student at GHS (Z.W.) receives a text from an anonymous number saying that Gillian is going to beat her up.

Feb 16, 2024: Cathy Holman reports anonymous text to GPD.

Feb 18, 2024: Brandi Sorensen reports receiving messages from an anonymous number about Gillian and Preston being inappropriate and that Gillian is a “bully” and bad influence.

March 23, 2024: Gillian receives messages from a social media account impersonating a peer @AlDeaver who says they are a Junior at GHS talking about how Gillian is a rebound for Preston. A picture of the GHS wrestling team is drawn on, with the drawings showing cute and ugly kids. The conversation continued over several weeks with constant remakes about how Gillian is better than Preston, Preston flirts with other girls, Preston is ugly, and it insinuated that the account was created by a peer at GHS named “Lane”. Account blocked by Gillian April 13, 2024.

March 25, 2024: Preston is sent screenshots of conversations between @AlDeaver and Gillian through an anonymous number.

March 25, 2024: Gillian receives texts from an anonymous number that Preston is talking to another girl.

April 10, 2024: FFA Advisor and GHS staff member (C.W.) receives an email from wyogal1974@gmail claiming it’s another GHS staff member (J.A.) saying that Gillian is planning to sneak into Preston’s room during State FFA. He deletes the email, assuming it is a prank. Later, when he learns more about the situation, he reports it to the administration and the Holman family.

April 10, 2024: @AlDeaver account talks about what Gillian is wearing that day in one of the messages, and she realizes the person is with her at the FAA State Convention.

April 12, 2024: Preston receives messages from an anonymous number about Gillian being a “hoe” and “fkn disgusting” and that their coach/teacher “wondra was fkn disgusted” at them dancing at the dance.

April 20, 2024: An email is sent to Cathy Holman from the wyogal1974@gmail account, pretending to be a GHS staff member (J.A.). The email calls Gillian a “snatch” and says Cathy “should quit putting on a fake image.” Cathy calls the teacher who supposedly sent the email, and it is clear that she is not the author.

The teacher (J.A.) who was impersonated makes a report to the police.

April 20, 2024: Brandi receives multiple messages about Preston and Gillian’s bad behavior at prom from “a concerned man from their church.”

Officer R. Brurud is granted a search warrant for Google to find log-in information from the fake account.

May 6, 2024: Gillian and Preston begin officially and exclusively dating and are now boyfriend and girlfriend.

June 28, 2024: Cathy receives texts from an anonymous number that is accusing Preston of being friends with a porn site on Facebook. When Cathy asks who the texter is, they respond, “Sorry, wrong mom.” Brandi then receives the exact same message minutes later.

July 11, 2024: Marcie Smith sends Cathy screenshots of a text from her personal phone supposedly from Gillian saying she and Preston blocked Marcie. Cathy tells Marcie to report the incident to the cops. Cathy calls Marcie to confront her and explain that she and Gillian are not behind any of the texts. She also offers to meet with the GHS admin to solve the problem. Marcie says Gillian is bullying her daughter (K.S.), her niece (B.M.), and another peer at GHS (C.W.) and says the stress from the texts is making her want to kill herself (she says this twice). Witnesses to conversation: Dan Holman, Ginny and Tom Jenkins (Cathy’s parents). Marcie hangs up on Cathy, who immediately reports it to the GPD and calls the Converse County Sheriff Department to do a welfare check on Marcie.

July 12, 2024: Marcie Smith was sending texts from her personal phone asking Preston to marry her daughter (K.S.).

July 16, 2024: Marcie Smith sends Preston the screenshot share that she sent to Cathy Holman on July 11 from her personal phone, and uses it to slander Gillian’s character.

August 5, 2024: Officer R. Brurud calls Cathy Holman to let her know the information from Google Search warrant comes back showing the device used to log into the fake email is IMEI: 860719060256009 and the provider is AT&T.

A search warrant was granted for cellular records for the above-listed device.

August 5, 2024: Dan and Cathy Holman meet with GHS school administrators to let them know about the situation. Until this time, they have been silent at the recommendation of the GPD. They informed them of their concerns for their daughter’s safety, gave a general overview of the situation, and asked if they would be willing to meet with them and the parents of the students Marcie Smith stated were being bullied by Gillian. The administration agreed to moderate a conversation if desired.

Dan Holman calls the parents of the two students that Marcie Smith claimed were being bullied by Gillian. Both parents assure him that no bullying has occurred and that they saw no need for a meeting or moderation. They both said they would let him know if things changed.

Sept 25, 2024: Officer R. Brurud calls to let Cathy Holman know that they learned that the phone used was purchased and activated at Walmart Supercenter 4400 E 2^nd Street, Casper WY on March 31, 2024. Video footage shows Marcie Smith purchasing the device with cash and activating the phone.

Sept 30, 2024: Officer R. Brurud conducts an interview with Marcie Smith.

• Marcie Smith admits to purchasing the device to send anonymous messages
• Marcie Smith admits to previously purchasing a prepaid phone that she used to send the initial messages. She said she disposed of this phone January of 2024 because “I was going to be done with it…just tired of this whole situation.”
• Marcie Smith stated that she sent messages because Gillian was bullying her daughter.

Oct 1, 2024: An Ex-Parte Stalking Order of Protection order is granted for Gillian Holman and her entire family. A court date for a protection order hearing is set for October 15, 2024.

October 11, 2024: Marcie Smith’s lawyer Patrick Lewallen files for a motion to continue hearing because of the addition of Preston Sorenson’s Ex-Parte Stalking Order of Protection. The Protection Order Hearing is set for November 13, 2024.

October 15, 2024: The Holman family met with Nathan Shumway, Converse County Deputy Attorney, and he agreed to take their case.

November 13, 2024: Discovery Session with Nathan Shumway, Converse County Deputy Attorney, and Marcie’s lawyer, Patrick Lewallen.

Jan 6, 2025: Nathan Shumway, Converse County Deputy Attorney, talks with Marcie’s lawyer, Partick Lewallen.

Jan 7,  2025: Holman family meets with Nathan Shumway, Converse County Deputy Attorney, and they discuss a plea for Marcie Smith. They are offered the chance for Marcie to plea guilty if they waive rights for Civil litigation. The Holman family refuses. The plea that is discussed is one year of probation, 7-14 days served jail time (does not need to be consecutive), no drugs and alcohol, and a mental health evaluation and counseling.

Jan 9, 2025: Nathan Shumway, Converse County Deputy Attorney, contacts the Holman family and jail time is removed from the plea.

Feb 12, 2025: Marcie accepts the plea, and the court date is set for March 19, 2025.

Feb 19, 2025: Patrick Lewallen files for a temporary amendment of the bond conditions for the dates of February 27, 2025 – March 1, 2025 (state wrestling where both Gillian and Preston are competing) and it is granted.

Feb 25, 2025: Dan Holman hand-delivers a letter to Patrick Lewallen saying that the Protection Order is still in place and that if Marcie Smith is seen at state wrestling, it will violate the Protection Order, and the police will immediately be called.

Feb 25, 2025: Patrick Lewallen files an expedited motion to temporarily amend the protective order for February 27, 2025 – March 1, 2025 (state wrestling). The motion is denied.

Feb 27 and 28, 2024: Marcie Smith and her family post repeatedly on social media, implying that Marcie will be at State Wrestling to cheer on her niece. Ford Wyoming Security Staff and the Wyoming Athletic Association are notified of the situation.

March 1, 2024: Marcie Smith’s family (sister, brother-in-law, mother, and father) come to the final day of Wyoming High School State Wrestling with a large poster with Marcie’s face on it and the words “I am HERE” written on it. They sit three rows above the girls’ wrestling mats and wave it around during competition.

March 4, 2025: Cathy Holman talks to Brian Boner (State Senator for District 2), who is working to bring up our suggested changes to the stalking laws (and some tech laws) in Wyoming as an interim topic.

March 19, 2025: Change of Plea Hearing at Converse County Circuit Court 1201 Messa Dr Douglas, Wyoming. Marcie Smith pleaded no contest to stalking charges. 1 year of jail time (SUSPENDED) and 1 year of unsupervised probation with no drugs or alcohol and a mental health evaluation and treatment.
