How the Wyoming Women’s Foundation Can Help You Navigate Wyoming’s Legislative Session
Posted February 12, 2026 by Prairie Wife -

I’ve mentioned it multiple times… until a year ago, I had no idea how the government works.
Yes, I had a vague understanding, and I’ve never missed an opportunity to vote in both local and national elections.
But all I really knew were leftover bits and pieces from middle school and high school government and history classes… and, because of my age, a few Schoolhouse Rock songs. Then, suddenly, last year, after my daughter was stalked by a 40-year-old woman for a year, I found myself googling “how do you write a law,” calling my local senator and asking for his support, meeting with other legislators in our area, and asking them, “How does the government work? What do I do next?”
I am eternally grateful for the people in my life who were willing to sit for hours and walk me through the process. Answer my questions and connect me with the right people.
This process opened my eyes to how much I didn’t know, and how many opportunities I’ve missed over the years to advocate for things I’ve felt passionate about. After all, it took our supporters only a few moments to email their local legislators about HB 8 and HB 9, and because of YOU, our bills now have a chance to become law in this legislative session.

I’ve worked with the Wyoming Women’s Foundation (WYWF) as their emcee at the annual Wyoming Women’s Antelope Hunt for years, and I’ve always been grateful for their nonpartisan advocacy. From posting social media updates on bills that help them further their mission, “to invest in the economic self-sufficiency of women and opportunities for girls in Wyoming,” to virtual webinars and learning opportunities that educate attendees on a variety of topics, WYWF is an amazing no-cost resource for Wyomingites.

Here are some ways that the Wyoming Women’s Foundation can help you navigate Wyoming’s current legislative session, and be an informed citizen throughout the year:

A year ago, I honestly couldn’t have told you the first thing about how our government functioned! I never expected to be an advocate, let alone encourage others to speak up alongside me.
Yet this past year has shown me that ordinary people can absolutely make a difference.
If you feel called to step in, even in the smallest way, trust that you’re capable. I’m living proof that learning, growing, and fighting for change is something any of us can choose. I’m thankful for nonprofit, nonpartisan organizations like the Wyoming Women’s Foundation that offer resources and education to help anyone interested in becoming involved in their local government gain the tools they need to make a difference!
