Show Yourself Some Love with a FitBit Alta #giveaway

Posted February 10, 2017 by Prairie Wife - 57 comments

I’ve been a FitBit fan for years. Its helped me to loose 70lb of baby weight (that was from two separate Cowkids) and kept me motivated after my surgeries last year to get up and moving!

fitbit altaWhen my FitBit Flex finally died at the end of last year I was debating whether or not to stick with my trusted and true FitBit Flex or try the FitBit Alta. TallGirlJ has the Alta and while I never spent much time with it, I liked that it was a watch and had bands that were more secure than the FitBit Flex. Just when I was about to make my choice, Verizon approached me and asked if I would try out the FitBit Alta and share my thoughts with my readers….

Talk about great timing right?

Not only was I able to test out this amazing new product (and trust me it IS amazing) I was also given the opportunity to GIVE A FITBIT ALTA to one lucky reader.

After all, it IS February…and our regular readers know that means it’s time for our “We LOVE Our Readers Month of Giveaways”

Take a few minutes to watch my review below and follow the instructions in the video to enter to WIN!

As you can see the FitBit Alta is SO much more than a fitness tracker. I was definitely impressed with how it links to my smart phone and vibrates with texts (and shows me the actual text) and has caller ID. After our week in Florida I can assure you that it REALLY is waterproof…

I can’t wait to read all your comments and to see which lucky reader will win a FitBit Alta of their own.

READERS: Make sure you watch the video and follow the directions, we have some who are simply commenting “this would be great”…this will not qualify you for an entry. Those of you that have answered that way CAN comment again 😉

I have thought about getting a fit bit on and off for years but wasn’t sure if it would help me or not. Sure would like to see if it helped me to be more active

    1. Prairie Wife says:

I know it’s helped me, and what a great way to show that you love yourself 🙂

  2. Chasetity says:

You are amazing. Awesome product pretty simple my fitbit isn’t working and the new fit bit ulta seems like it would give me tons of motovation to get my butt off the couch. Love it’s features 🙂

    1. Prairie Wife says:

Motivation to get moving is one of the best things about it, and an awesome way to show you love yourself!

  3. Stacy Meyer says:

This was such a great product review! I had no idea the FitBit Alta actually had so many features, and I would never have guessed it was WATERPROOF! I normally avoid wearing assessories on my wrists because I always seem to have my hands in water, and also because I catch those items on things as I’m moving around and end up breaking whatever I’m wearing. Having a watch band on the FitBit sounds magical as it would remain secure. As a mother of three teenagers, two that drive, I am always carting my phone around in fear that I may miss a call or txt about an emergency. This often means I’m tucking my phone in the waistband of my yoga pants, back of my jean’s pocket or the occasional safe keeping within my bra. The FitBit would help me love myself more by having the fashionable and highly convenient location on my wrist, and it would allow me to access all the other features to move around more without the anxiety of missing an important call if I walk away from my phone. Peace of mind knowing I’m connected to my family and being available, while not being tempted to scroll through my phone and getting up and moving instead, would greatly help me love myself more as I would be able to put myself first without sacrificing the accessibility I need to calls and txts from my family. Very impressed with FitBit Alta!

    1. Prairie Wife says:

Love your point of how it can keep you in contact with your kiddos and keep the your stress lower!

  4. Dallas Lain says:

Huh, my last shred of resistance to the fitbit/smartwatch has fallen with the interchangable band and waterproof features. Love how you use it to make your days better just a little bit at a time (new philosophy for 2017 – just do a little better today…)

    1. Prairie Wife says:

Right, this one is awesome! Making your days better a little bit at a time is the perfect way to show yourself some love 🙂

  5. Kelly N. says:

How exciting! A STYLISH fitness tracker that helps keep a person stay in the moment and off their phone! Don’t we all need that? I know I do!! Focus on family and staying healthy wrapped up in one… the best way to love ourself! Wow!!

    1. Prairie Wife says:

It really surprised me how it helped with that!

  6. Felesha says:

Awesome!! I’ve been in the hunt for a new tracker! This one is super cute, love the phone alert features!!
    Thanks for the review! 🙂

  7. Karen Szewczyk says:

What an amazing gift! I have bought a Fitbit for almost everyone in my family so now maybe I will be rewarded with one!!!

  8. Rockin' Piranha says:

What an amazing giveaway! This looks like a great product to help encourage people to get up and move!

  9. Christie says:

This is awesome! Hope I’m the lucky winner!

  10. Krystal says:

Great review! I love the band! This would help me productivity wise and love myself by moving more. I also leave my phone on silent and miss the hubby’s calls … Whenever I go to check text or the time I get sucked into social media or emails. Love how an Alta could help with that.

  11. Janell Guthmann says:

I have an Apple Watch! So I am so interested to see how they are different!! Can’t wait 🙂 thanks!

  12. stephanie says:

I like the different display options and the connectivity with your phone. The interface with phone app and dashboard lets you set your own goals to tailor your fitbit experience, along with the fitbit adventure challenges which look like an interesting twist on achieving a step goal.

  13. College bff says:

I need more motivation to get up and move I think it will help me love myself more if I become more productive towards my goals… also it will help me be more attentive to my daughter and put my phone away more which will make me love myself more for being a better mom! I love that it’s waterproof!

  14. College BFF's mom! says:

I am so excited to have a chance to record all my exercise. I also like the part where I can leave my phone home.

  15. Melissa Butler says:

I have to have this!! I had the NIke exercise tracker quite a few ago and loved it, when it worked….That was was broken more than it worked! I have never had a Fit Bit, but I know they must work because people seem to love them. When I had my Nike one, I would get up and make sure some exercise was happening. I have gained so much weight over the year that the only explanation I can come up with is lack of exercise. When I got more exercise I remember loving my skin and body more which is not happening these days… I am hoping having one of these will be that push to get things started again!

  16. Dyani Jaime says:

I would love this! I’ve been wanting one for some time, but I really want one with a watch and call/text features!! I know it would help me love myself more as I am, if I could see all the hard work I’m trying to do while also keeping me accountable when I’m not!!

  17. Jenna says:

The third baby got me! I have had the hardest time dropping all the baby weight, even though the “baby” is almost two. Working 12hour night shifts also doesn’t help! I’ve recently loss 10lbs and I think something like this would keep my motivated to keep going in the quest to love my body!

  18. Jenna says:

This would keep my moving at work! 12hours stuck in a small NICU I need motivation to get up and walk around!

  19. Pam Warren says:

I love myself more when I’m active and on time. This sounds like a win-win product. My daughter loves her older Fitbit and I think this has inspired me to want one! Half the time my phone is stollen by my granddaughter playing “hot potato ” by the wiggles. I’ll know who is texting me.

  20. Laura Dandridge says:

I have been wanting a Fitbit Alta and didn’t even know it had all these features. I love how you can be less distracted on your phone by using the Alta! Great review – love your blog!

  21. Hannah says:

I would love to win a Fitbit Alta because I need motivation to get moving! It would help me get off the couch more and get moving! I love the feature of it connecting to my phone! I think that would help me be more present with my kids in the day and be on my phone less! Both getting more activity in my day and being a better mom would help me love myself better!!

  22. Dynal says:

I’m trying to loose weight and I need all the help I can get. I would love to drop a few dress sizes

  23. Penny Macormic says:

My life changes (menopause, job, and weight gain) have caused me to not like myself so much anymore. I hate going into public because of my weight gain. I used to be a very social person. I would to be motivated again and feel better about myself. I’m thinking this Fit bit Alta is just what the Dr. has ordered. Thank you for your blog. It always brings a smile to my heart.

  24. Molly Wartenbee says:

I am trying to get healthy! I am doing better at going to the gym and eating healthier. Having a fit bit Alta would help hold me accountable. This is the year that I will finally feel good about myself!!

  25. Jenn B says:

I would love to know how many steps I get in daily, when i forget what I left my desk for or when I’m chasing kiddos around. I keep considering a fitbit, and i especially love the extras this does, but i have always been deterred in the past because if i have to take it off for baths/tubs/dishes, I will never remember to put it back on. The different options for the band are amazing.
I, too, fall into the cellphone black hole, because I no longer wear a watch, so it would help me be more productive at home and work.
One question, does the screen scratch easy? I ditched my regular watch because I would instantly scratch the dial glass.

  26. Renee C. says:

I’m a few months behind you in a similar health journey as you. Got the majority of that stuff behind me now! A FitBit would be wonderful to help me get back on track.

    1. Prairie Wife says:

Hugs and strength being sent your way Renee <3

  27. Julie Waldron says:

I would love this, I think it would help keep me motivated to get fit.

  28. Pam Halligan says:

A Fitbit Alta will help me love myself by motivating me to workout more.

  29. Christy says:

I love the smart notification feature. I had a different style that gave notifications that I loved but it broke so have been without a tracker. I defiantly loved that it motivates me throughout the day and gave me a little extra push. I agree with what you said on your review, I had my phone a lot less as I wasn’t always concerned looking at it throughout the day. I love when I’m more focused on being a mom then looking at my phone! Good review!

    1. Prairie Wife says:

Thanks for stopping by Christy 🙂

  30. Katrina Brockavich says:

I’ve been wanting to get a fitbit for my husband. He thinks he moves a lot more than he does, and I think a fitbit would show him just how little he is actually moving. It would also give him a chance to compete against himself (and me) by trying to up his steps. I have an older fitbit and love it!

    1. Katrina Brockavich says:

A fitbit would help him love himself more because he would be more confident as he sheds the extra weight and increases his steps. It would help him show himself love and keep moving.

    2. Prairie Wife says:

I love that you are trying to keep your whole family healthy, and I know what a challenge it can be lol 😉

  31. Tanya Gygax says:

This was a great review! I like that you can connect with friends who can motivate you and challenge you. I always love a good competition. The fact that’s it’s waterproof is pretty sweet too! Also, it seems lightweight and not bulky. Also, I’m a watch wearer. If I forget my watch, I feel naked so having this be a watch is a total bonus! ❤️

  32. Bennie says:

Like you I have had a flex for maybe two years and I’ve noticed it’s not holding a charge as long as it used to hold so maybe it’s time for a new one. An upgrade might be in order. I bought the cheaper version in the beginning because I didn’t know if I’d like it and/or it would work well. In the past those that I clipped to my waste would pop off and break. I must say I’ve worn my flex every day. I find myself walking in place at night if I don’t hit my 10,000 by 8:00 in front of the tv..

You should start a Praire Wife Fitbit group so we can all compete together.

    1. Prairie Wife says:

Nice to know I’m not the only one jogging in place at night lol!

  33. Tanya Gygax says:

Also, as a breast cancer survivor with the BRCA1 gene, my body has gone through some crazy changes over the last 2 years. Between surgeries and chemo, it’s been hard to look in the mirror and see a different person. Physically I have changed in so many ways and I want to be able to love my body again. I love how this Fitbit helps hold you a bit more accountable to get up and move. ❤️

    1. Prairie Wife says:

Tanya sending you hugs and so happy to hear that you are working on getting stronger and loving your body.

  34. Jenni T says:

I, too had a fitbit that died after a long and happy life. I have just been using an app on my phone to track activity, but I want to know what all the little stuff I do adds up to!! I also can see the potential of spending LESS time on my phone, which would be a huge bonus in itself. I signed up to do a 1000 mile challenge in 2017, so that fitbit would be soo helpful. Keep up the good work, young lady, I love the blog!

    1. Prairie Wife says:

The 1000 mile challenge sounds like awesome motivation! Thanks for stopping by Jenni 🙂 I hope we see more of you!

Why I want a Fitbit Alta is a very simple question to answer. I love the idea of an interactive way to help get me moving, hold me accountable, and make it fun! I am excited about all the extra features you have informed us about and look forward to trying one out for myself!! How it would help me to love myself more is a little trickier to answer. 😉 We all go through things in this life and change with the seasons, I am no exception to that. Coming out of a more difficult season, I think this Fitbit Alta would greatly assist me in my journey to love myself more by becoming healthier. I have the desire and this may be the perfect tool to help me along the way in a positive direction.

This FitBit Alta looks so beautiful and stylish! I love it because it would help me to stay motivated by reminding me to move more and sit less everyday.
Thank You for the great review and giveaway!

  38. Kari says:

My son actually gave me a FitBit for Christmas and I LOVE it! It definitely helps motivate me to be more active. I would love to win this one to give to my college age daughter. It would be fun for us to use them together to challenge and motivate each other.

  39. Kris R says:

I had a basic Fitbit for about 2 years. I moved across country a year ago and I left it on the charger in hotel room . This would help me get back into the groove of watching my steps and competing with my friends who continue to invite me to weekly challenges. It motivates your competitive nature. Great video, didn’t know they even came out with a model that shows text msgs. How cool!

  40. Heidi Foy says:

Thanks for the swell review! I have been thinking of getting a fitbit for about a year now. I have an adroid so I always wondered if there was something different that I needed…I think now they all work together!? After the past 6 months of being sick and being put on a pill to help…only to find out that it is also an appetite stimulant. So…back to the gym (downstairs) I go and trying to eat better and workout more. Something that my husband and I are also working on is PUTTING OUR PHONES DOWN. They really are a relationship killer. For both health and to build more relationships, this fitbit would be awesome for me!!

  41. Lynn 2 says:

My Hubby and I have a trip to a tropical isle planned for our 15th wedding anniversary and the Alta would help me stay motivated to get beach body ready!

  42. Heather says:

The Fitbit Alta would help me love myself more by keeping me accountable and making sure I walk my dog every day!

  43. Brandon Sparks says:

It would make me always want to walk or jog.

  44. Rajee says:

    Love its new features

  45. Breanna says:

I’m about to have baby #2 and am needing to get back into a routine. One way i could #love myself is to start taking better care of myself for both my babies and my family.
